The Jean Beliveau Auction- February 2005
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/22/2005
Big impressive silver-plated platter was presented to Jean Beliveau to commemorate his 400th regular season NHL goal and features the engraved facsimile autographs of his teammates. Engraving (in French) in the middle indicates that the milestone marker was registered October 11, 1967 in the season-opening game in Pittsburgh. What is not revealed is that the goal was scored on Hank Bassen 52 seconds into the 2nd period, was assisted by Yvan Cournoyer and proved to be the game-winner in the Penguins' first game ever which ended 2-1. Handled platter was on display at the Hall-of Fame until just recently, measures approximately 20" x 16" and exhibits moderate tarnish around the edge and on the not so important back. Another terrific memento from Jean Beliveau's illustrious career, it will come with his signed LOA.
