A valuable product of the powerful Central Red Army team in his native Russia before appearing in North America, Pavel Bure was an absolute steal for the Vancouver Canucks as the franchise selected the speedy youngster 113th overall at the 1989 NHL Entry Draft. With hockey minds comparing Bure to legendary Soviet stars Vladimir Krutov and Valeri Kharlamov - the latter being arguably the greatest Russian player in history, a contract dispute between Vancouver and the Red Army team - settled by a $250,000 payout, kept Bure out of the first month of the 1991-92 NHL season. Finally making his NHL debut of November 5, 1991 vs Winnipeg, "the Russian Rocket" would go on to score 60 points in 65 games during his inaugural campaign, more than enough to win the Calder Memorial as the league's top rookie. This scarce ticket stub from Bure's NHL debut has been graded EX 5 by PSA. Listing the date, venue, opponent and seat number, along with the original purchase price of $29.00 and logos for both teams, the stub remains in very pleasing condition overall, with no obtrusive wear or roughly torn edges. According to the PSA Population Report, this is one of just 3 debut stubs to be graded, with just a single example graded higher. Bure was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2012.
