Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2025
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/24/2025
One of just four teams to officially start the first season in the WHA, playing the opening games on October 11, 1972, the Ottawa Nationals only witnessed a single season of rebel hockey before moving to Toronto due to financial difficulties. Exceedingly rare and some of the most contested rubber in the hobby, WHA game pucks from the first season rarely surface – especially specimens in near mint condition. A black Biltrite model - harder to find than the blue pucks - with screened Nationals team logo on the obverse and screened WHA logo on the reverse, “Made in Canada” appears in raised text on the Nationals logo, with this a Biltrite B1 model blank edged puck. As mentioned, the condition is near mint, with the puck in like-new condition with absolutely no issues.
