Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2025
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/24/2025
Disappointed with being drafted by the Montreal Canadiens as his favorite team was the Quebec Nordiques and his goaltender idol Dan Bouchard, Patrick Roy took over regular goaltending duties from Habs' starter Doug Soetaert in January of 1986. Earning the position of Canadiens' goaltender for the Stanley Cup playoffs, Roy led his club past Boston, Hartford, the Rangers and finally Calgary for a Stanley Cup victory while being the youngest to win the Conn Smythe Trophy at just 20 years-of-age. This photo of St Patrick in game-action during his rookie season of 1985-86 has been signed by the iconic netminder, with the signature graded GEM MINT 10 by PSA/DNA. At 8" x 10", Roy watches the play in front of him intently, wearing his original mask with no design. Signed over the right side in blue marker, the flawless signature presents beautifully, with no condition issues visible for the photo. There is a Frozen Pond hologram affixed to the bottom left.
