Given the nickname of his famous football-playing father, who was regarded as the “King of the Heelers” for his proficiency at heeling the ball to the quarterback, King Clancy enjoyed a lengthy Hall of Fame career with both Ottawa and Toronto, with his relationship with the latter lasting over half a century. Rarely seen and produced originally to advertise Eno’s Fruit Salt during the 1930s, we have a signed promotional photo of the King, along with a 1934-35 Leafs MLG program with Clancy cover multi-signed by approx a dozen presumably MLG employees on the cover, and an early-1930s Imperial Series Clancy scribbler cover. The Eno's promo photo is approx 8" x 10" and it features a beautiful colour image of the HOFer, signed over the lower text in green ink with a personalization, with the signature a bit hard to make out against the dark green background. There is light wear including a few surface dents and a small edge tear. The program is from the March 16, 1935 match vs Montreal, won by the Leafs 5-3, with Charlie Conacher scoring a hat trick and the King earning two assists. Complete with general handling wear, the cover is partially detached at the bottom of the spine. The scribbler cover is 7" x 9 1/2" and it features a black and white image with facsimile signature, and there is wear with handwriting above the image. The cover is attached to a backing, but it appears it can be removed if so desired. A pair of small vintage cut-outs of Clancy are also included with the lot.
