Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2025
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/24/2025
Only a teenager when he arrived on the Major League Baseball scene, Sandy Koufax would go on to accumulate multiple impressive laurels in his all-too-short career that had him becoming, in 1972 at age 36, the youngest player ever elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame. Four no-hitters, three Cy Young Awards (the only pitcher to win three in an era when just one award was given for both leagues), two World Series MVP awards - in short, one of the greatest pitchers of all-time and one of the outstanding Jewish athletes in U.S. sports history - Sandy's career was fascinating! Offered here, we present this lot consisting of Koufax's 1960 and 1961 Topps baseball cards that have been graded with marks of EX 5 and EX-MT 6 respectively from the professionals at PSA. Pictured over the front of both cards wearing his white Dodgers uniform, with the same image of the hurler actually appearing on both cardboard treasures, both cards sport front images that are a bit off center while retaining excellent colours, fairly sharp corners, smooth edges and what appear to be clean surfaces. Both housed in PSA holders that are in excellent condition, just light imperfections are seen over each that are worth mentioning for accuracy.
