Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2025

Selected 39th overall by the Ducks in 2011, John Gibson propelled the United States to the gold medal at the 2013 World Junior Hockey Championships winning best goaltender along the way. The winner of the William M. Jennings Trophy in 2015-16 and having spent the entirety of his National Hockey League career with Anaheim thus far, totalling out to over 500 games played as of this writing, Gibson has been named to the NHL All-Star Game on three (3) occasions. Offered here, we present this glove used by Gibson during the 2021-22 season. A True model L20.2 catching glove that is done up in Anaheim's orange, white, black and gold colour way, "True" graphics appear over both the front and reverse of the piece while "Crafted by Lefebvre for Gibson" is found embroidered into the back of the wrist in orange thread. Featuring a white coloured nylon lace pocket and signed by Kay Whitmore with his initials in black marker ink on the outside of the wrist guard/cuff, deeming okay for NHL play, a tag reading "PRO" is found stitched to the interior of the cuff as well which is worth noting for accuracy. Signed by Gibson over the back of the glove with a large black marker ink signature that displays without issue, research shows that Gibson used this model of glove during the advertised season up until the All-Star Game in 2022 but we were unable to find a photo-match showing it being used during game play, therefore being the reason why we are classifying it was "Player-Worn" and not "Game-Worn". Displaying with excellent signed of use, puck marks are seen throughout the piece, heaviest over the front of the wrist and in the pocket while some sweat staining appears around the nylon at the opening of the wrist. Additionally, some minor rubbing/fraying is seen around the nylon edge as well.
