Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2025
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/24/2025
One of only seven men throughout a century of NHL hockey to eclipse the insurmountable 700-goal plateau and just the third in the league's history to surpass the mark of 800, Alexander Ovechkin has proven himself as one of the game’s all-time greatest, with HOF enshrinement guaranteed. Having recently taken ownership of the NHL's all-time goal scoring record and surpassing Wayne Gretzky for the mark, Ovechkin is the practical owner of the Maurice "Rocket" Richard Trophy that is awarded at seasons end to the man with the most goals during the season, with Ovi having won it nine (9) times in his career, including a run of four (4) straight between 2012-13 and 2015-16. A Stanley Cup champion with the Washington Capitals in 2018, a playoffs in which he also captured the Conn Smythe Trophy, Ovi has also secured a trio of Hart Memorial Trophy's and an Art Ross Trophy for his esteemed resume. Playing his first NHL game on October 5th, 2005 against the Washington Capitals, Ovi would tally his first NHL goal at 7:21 of the 2nd period. Captured in this large 16" x 20" image of the celebration following that 1st career goal, offered here is this framed photograph of the moment which has been signed by Ovechkin. Framed to full dimensions of 24 1/2" x 20 1/2" and housed in a simple black frame that shows some minor wear from age and display, Ovi has signed alongside his image with a large blue marker signature that displays beautifully despite minor fading from age while the photo itself is found to be in excellent shape. Having had a trio of holograms from Frozen Pond, the NHL and Ovechkin's representation affixed to the bottom right portion of the image, a Frozen Pond COA will accompany the piece.
