Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2025
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/24/2025
Featuring a quintet of sticks that have been signed by men that have combined to score a total of nearly 3500 goals in the National Hockey League (and counting!), offered here is this collection of five (5) sticks signed by the likes of Wayne Gretzky, Alexander Ovechkin, Bobby Orr, Mario Lemieux and Mark Messier, all some of the best goal scorers that the game of hockey has ever seen. Including examples made by brands such as Easton (Gretzky), CCM (Ovechkin), Victoriaville (Orr), Nike (Lemieux) and Louisville TPS (Messier), with each respective player's name appearing over the blade or shaft in some capacity. With each signature having been signed by the featured player over the blade in varying inks, the autographs of Gretzky and Orr have been signed in black marker while those of Ovechkin and Messier have been penned in silver marker. Finally, the Lemieux signature is found in gold marker ink. All displaying well for their age with no real issues to make note of other than some minor fading in some cases from age that is worth noting for accuracy, an "Ovechkin8" hologram appears over the Ovechkin stick while a Steiner hologram appears over the Messier “1994 Stanley Cup” example, which is serial numbered "1992/1994" in matching silver ink. With the sticks themselves all appearing in overall good condition for their efforts, showing just some light handling wear that is observed, it is important to note that the Orr example is a replica of the sticks he used during his playing career as a member of the Bruins and sports tape over both the handle/knob and blade. Additionally, the stick has been twice signed by Orr over either side of the blade with one of the autographs including a personalization that reads “To Doc Sawa, Good Luck Always, Your Friend Bobby Orr”.
