Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2025
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/24/2025
Named after Frank Calder, the first President of the National Hockey League and first awarded after the conclusion of the 1936-37 season, the Calder Memorial Trophy has been awarded every year since to the player deemed to be the NHL's "Rookie of the Year", an honour that actually predates the trophy by another four (4) seasons. Offered here, we present this collection of twenty-five (25) pucks that have been individually signed by various Calder Memorial Trophy/"Rookie of the Year" award winners. All having signed their autographs over mostly souvenir model slugs made by InGlasCo that feature various logos of the teams that that particular player won the award with or most notably played with, all of the pucks included in the lot have been signed in either silver or gold marker ink while each has also been inscribed by the man that signed it with an inscription listing their award win in some form. Additionally, a couple have also included inscriptions for their number, nicknames or Hockey Hall of Fame induction years as well. Including examples of Jacques Laperriere (Montreal - 1964), Gilbert Perreault (Buffalo - 1971), Edgar Laparde (New York - 1946), Bobby Rousseau (Montreal - 1962), Pavel Bure (Vancouver - 1992), Luc Robitaille (Los Angeles - 1987), Ralph Backstrom x2 (Montreal - 1959), Peter Stastny (Quebec - 1981), Tom Barrasso (Buffalo - 1984), Glenn Hall (Detroit - 1956), Mike Bossy (New York - 1978), Derek Sanderson (Boston - 1968), Tony Esposito (Chicago - 1970), Eddie Litzenberger (Chicago - 1955) Bill Hay (Chicago - 1960), Gus Bodnar (Toronto - 1944), Dale Hawerchuk (Winnipeg - 1982), Howie Meeker (Toronto - 1947), Bryan Trottier (New York - 1976), Andrew Raycroft (Boston - 2004), Pentti Lund (New York - 1949), Gary Sutter (Calgary - 1986), Denis Potvin (New York - 1974) and Steve Larmer (Chicago - 1983). With the signatures all displaying beautifully for the most part (some show the odd light/small smudge that is worth mentioning for accuracy) along with the pucks themselves (some show light handling/age wear), many of the pucks included are accompanied by matching COA's.
