From two major events held at Montreal's famous Olympic Stadium in Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, we offer a 1976 Summer Olympics participation medal and pennant, along with a medal from the 1979 IAAF World Cup. The first Olympic Games held on Canadian soil, the participation medal features the Montreal Olympic Games logo on one side and an image of the Olympic Stadium on the other, joined by "XXIe Olympiade Montreal 1976." Of copper composition, measuring 1-3/4" in diameter, the medal is accompanied by the original leather case bearing a red metallic Montreal Olympic logo. This example exhibits light wear with a few minor scratches/marks to the surface. The 30" pennant features a generic torch bearer with "Canada 1976" along with the Olympic rings. There is light wear, with the tassels intact. The 1979 IAAF World Cup was an international track and field sporting event sponsored by the International Association of Athletics Federations, held on August 24–26, 1979, at Olympic Stadium. The large bronze medal is square in shape at roughly 3 3/4" x 3 3/4", with the Games logo embossed along with "La Coupe (at top) Du Monde II (right side) Montreal 1979 (bottom) 24, 25, 26 Aout" (left side). There is some minor wear and tarnish, with a signature engraved on an edge of the medal.
