Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2025
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/24/2025
The first National Hockey League club to call the "Gateway to The West" home and doing so over thirty (30) years before the Blues moved in beginning with the 1967-68 season, the St. Louis Eagles played a lone season in the NHL, occurring during the 1934-35 season after the Ottawa Senators packed up and moved South. Finishing with a record of eleven (11) wins, thirty-six (36) losses and six (6) ties, taking up the basement position in the NHL's Canadian Division and missing the playoffs, offered here is this Eagles game program from their contest on December 4th, 1934 against the New York Americans at St. Louis Arena that resulted in a 2-0 win. Hailing from only their sixth (6th) home game, the rare relic of a bygone era is found to be in overall excellent condition for its age, retaining its middle line-up page on the interior and sporting generic hockey/Eagles artwork over the front cover below a title of "Eagleye". Also displaying the original purchase price of .10 cents on the front cover, the program shows just light handling wear via a couple of surface spots over the cover, a touch of paper loss near the spine and creasing throughout to go along with a couple minuscule edge tears and minor toning to the interior pages.
