Likely produced at the peak of the Baby Boom Era in the United States that followed the conclusion of World War II from 1946 to 1964 and borrowing the style of jerseys seen being worn by the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League, offered here is this vintage patriotic durene offering made by famed New York based sporting goods supplier Gerry Cosby that dates from the era of the mid-to-late-1950s. A durene construction garment as previously mentioned that sports a label from Gerry Cosby affixed inside the hem that also features the tattered remains of what appears to be a size tag listing a "48" designation, the address on the Cosby's label is listed as being "12 West 48th Street", which was the home of the retailer until they moved into the corner location of the old Madison Square Garden in 1959. Decorated over the front of the jersey with a shield crest reminiscent of the logo used by the AHL's Rochester Americans during the era, the logo has been administered in a felt and twill construction which is flanked on either side by a single white felt star that has been sewn on as well. Of note, the crest currently on the jersey was added overtop of another crest originally, with the outline of the first crest, of a smaller size, able to be seen on the interior. Accented over the reverse with the number "15" in dual layer blue-over-white tackle twill numerals, the jersey shows wear via a number of unrepaired holes throughout its body and sleeves while the sleeves also show a few stains, light stick marks and fabric runs that are worth noting for accuracy.
