Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2025
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/24/2025
Playing as a minor professional team in the Eastern Provincial Hockey League between 1959 and 1963 and seeing notable names such as Don Cherry, Dave Keon and Gerry Cheevers suit up for the club during their brief existence, the club would be the runner up for the Tom Foley Memorial Trophy as league champions in both 1959-60 and 1962-63. Affiliated with both the NHL's Detroit Red Wings and Toronto Maple Leafs during their existence, offered here is this complete set of 1962-63 EPHL Sudbury Wolves Crown Life hockey photos. Including twenty-two (22) of twenty-two (22) photos that make up the complete set, each photo measures approximately 4" x 6" for its effort and displays a black and white image of the featured player while listing their name, position, team and "Crown Life Hockey School" underneath. Including notable photos of players such as Gerry Cheevers (an error with his first name spelt "Jerry") and Murph Chamberlain as well as Marc Dufour and Paul Andrea, the group is found to be in overall good condition, with the expected corner and edge wear seen throughout the group while some sport light-to-moderate and moderate toning as well plus minor stains. Additionally, it is worth noting that the photo of Cheevers appears to be the most loved, displaying with some surface wear both front and back, creasing at the corners and a bit of paper loss over the bottom left corner on the reverse. Also, four (4) photos have had "Leonard" penned over their reverses in blue ballpoint pen ink.
