Capturing "The Great One" stick handling up the ice in a contest against the Chicago Black Hawks at Chicago Stadium, the Madhouse on Madison, during the 1983 Stanley Cup Playoffs, specifically on May 1st, 1983 in Game Three (3) of the Campbell Conference Finals where Gretzky and the Oilers would record a 3-2 victory to go up three (3) games to none (0). Held to just two (2) assists but recording a helper on the game winner by Glenn Anderson at 13:05 of the third (3rd) period, Edmonton would complete the sweep two (2) nights later, on the back of three (3) points by Gretzky, to advance to the Stanley Cup Finals for the first (1st) time in franchise history. A black-and-white image measuring roughly 8" x 10", the reverse of the image sports an affixed Chicago Sun-Times label that has had photographer Bob Langer's name stamped over it while a caption slip listing things like date, photographer, location and a quick synopsis of what was happening in the photo is found added underneath, above an attached newsprint caption cutout. Also stamped over the reverse with a date of "MON MAY 2 '83", another stamp appearing to reading "APR 32 - 1242AM '83" is found nearby while "Wayne Gretzky" is penned in dark ballpoint pen ink. With the last penned notation being found over one edge in orange pencil crayon, the image is found in overall excellent condition, showing just light edge, corner and surface wear plus a bit of toning. Deemed to be an "AUTHENTIC" Type l photograph by PSA, the image is housed for preservation in an oversized PSA holder that remains in excellent condition.
