Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2025
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/24/2025
One of the best rookie card lineups ever for a set of sports cards, the 1981-82 O-Pee-Chee hockey release features a checklist of 396-cards in all for its effort and is paced by the first year offerings of players such as Jarri Kurri, Paul Coffey, Glenn Anderson, Don Beaupre, Dino Ciccarelli, Dale Hunter, Tim Kerr, Rejean Lemelin, Kevin Lowe, Andy Moog, Larry Murphy, Denis Savard and Peter Stastny as well as numerous other stars and names that would go on to be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame after their careers. Offered here, and spared from the hands of card hungry youngsters back in the day, is this lot consisting of an unopened wax pack of O-Pee-Chee's 1981-82 release which has been graded by the professionals at PSA. Featuring generic hockey player imagery over the front of its red coloured wrapper, the pack also displays "HOCKEY" over the front of it in big bold yellow letters below "O-Pee-Chee" in smaller albeit matching style, along with an NHL shield logo and the original per-pack-purchase price of .25 cents. Housing a total of fourteen (14) cards and a stick of bubble gum on its interior, the backside of the wrapper displays a "plastic gun with suction cup darts" promotional send away offer. Having been inspected and encapsulated at PSA, earning a mark of MINT 9 for its effort, the pack is made even more desirable by the fact that the pack gives us a peek at a copy of Glenn Anderson's rookie card that is showing through the wrapper on the reverse. Not labeled as being an "Glenn Anderson-Back" example, if it was the pack would be a POP 1 example, with the PSA POP Report telling the tale of how only one pack labeled "Glenn Anderson-Top" has been inspected by the company over the years, coming in with a NM-MT 8 grade on the registry. Housed in a good condition PSA holder, don't miss out on this one for your unopened portfolio!
