Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2025
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/24/2025
Boasting perhaps the deepest rookie crop in the sport's history, the 1987-88 O-Pee-Chee hockey release features a checklist of 264-cards in all and is propped up by a tremendous crop of first-year cards that includes the likes of Luc Robitaille, Adam Oates and Ron Hextall as well as other fan favourites such as Vincent Damphousse, Mike Vernon, Stephane Richer, Claude Lemieux, Rick Tocchet and Bill Ranford to go along with the second (2nd) year card of Patrick Roy and numerous other star cards of players including Gretzky, Messier, Coffey and Lemieux. Offered here, and spared from the hands of card hungry youngsters back in the day, is this lot consisting of an unopened wax pack of O-Pee-Chee's 1987-88 release which has been graded by the professionals at PSA. Featuring generic hockey player imagery over the front of its yellow and red coloured label, the pack also displays "HOCKEY" in big bold black letters, the logos of O-Pee-Chee, the NHL and the NHLPA plus the original per-pack-purchase price of .35 cents. Featuring a total of seven (7) cards and a stick of bubble gum on the interior, the pack displays a "Say No To Drugs" advertisement over the reverse side. Having been inspected and encapsulated at PSA, earning a mark of NM-MT 8 for its effort, the pack is made even more desirable by the fact that the pack gives us a peek at a copy of Stephane Richer's rookie card through the top of the wrapper. Housed in a good condition PSA holder, don't miss out on this one for your all-important unopened pack portfolio!
