Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2025
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/24/2025
A charter member of the National Hockey League that set up shop way beforehand in 1909, the Montreal Canadiens lay claim to the most Stanley Cup championships in NHL history with a total of twenty-four (24) and have had some of the best players in the history of the game to don their famed bleu, blanc et rouge. Enjoying a period of time from 1955 to 1960 in which they won five (5) straight Stanley Cup championships and following it up by hoisting the Cup another six (6) times during the 1970s, offered here is this collection of twenty-five (25) pucks signed by men that donned Montreal's bleu, blanc et rouge colours during the ten (10) year period. Signing their autographs over mostly souvenir model slugs made by InGlasCo that feature various styles and sizes of Canadiens logos over their fronts and NHL logos on the reverse sides, all of the pucks included in the lot have been signed in silver marker ink while each also has been inscribed by the man that signed it with an inscription listing the Stanley Cup's they won while wearing Montreal's uniform during the 1970s. Additionally, a couple have also included inscriptions for their number and/or HHOF induction year as well. Including examples signed by HOFers Guy Lafleur, Serge Savard, Frank Mahovlich, Scotty Bowman (coach), Jacques Lemaire, Steve Shutt, Bob Gainey, Larry Robinson, Guy Lapointe and Rod Langway, also present are pucks signed by McNeil (coach), Larouche, Wilson, Awrey, Roberto, Sheehan, Risebrough, Mondou, Bouchard, Myre, Napier, Sevigny, Tremblay, P. Mahovlich and Houle. With the signatures all displaying beautifully for the most part (some show the odd light/small smudge that is worth mentioning for accuracy), many of the pucks included are accompanied by matching COA's from companies such as RGS, Classic Authentics, SportAuthentix, and others while the pucks themselves are found to be in good condition overall and show just light handling wear in some cases. Additionally, the group also comes with a vintage Viceroy Canadiens game puck that shows light-to-moderate wear throughout while remaining fairly clean for its age.
