Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2025

Drafted 4th overall by the New York Islanders in 1997, Roberto Luongo first led the Acadie–Bathurst Titan to a President's Cup victory in the Q before making his NHL debut on Long Island in November of 1999. His first season was split between the Isles (24 games) and AHL's Lowell Lock Monsters (26 games), with New York then deciding to trade the youngster to Florida in June of 2000. From his rookie season and short-lived time in the Big Apple, we offer a signed and photo-matched blocker worn by the HOFer in 1999-2000. A Heaton Helite 5 model in Islanders colours, "Luongo" is embroidered over the thumb, with his thin black marker signature placed directly above on the orange thumb padding. Good game-use is shown with a number of puck marks to the face, and a few tears to the orange leather on the frontside. There is also a team repair to the pinky finger and a bit of red paint discolouration to the palm. Getty Image #55971997 dated April 01, 2000, has been matched to a number of marks on the face of the blocker, with the tear to the front side on the orange leather visible.
