Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2025
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/24/2025
The late great Rod Gilbert is depicted here on his 1961-62 Topps rookie card, with the back informing of his scoring exploits with Guelph of the Ontario Hockey Association (he won the scoring championship in '60-61) and of the serious back injury that jeopardized his future. A model of consistency with the Rangers, Rod became a fan favorite in New York, with his 12 seasons of 20-or-more goals helping the right winger reach the 400-goal career mark. This signed 1961-62 Topps Gilbert rookie card deemed authentic and certified by PSA has been given an autograph grade of MINT 9. Sporting a gorgeous and dark blue fibre-tip marker signature place vertically on the right side, we should note that the card itself does show wear. The PSA case remains scratch free. Only fifteen such signed cards have been submitted and graded by PSA over the years. Gilbert passed away in 2021.
