Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2025
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/24/2025
The 1971 baseball card set produced by O-Pee-Chee set mirrors Topps' American version though the cards from the Canadian company weren't cut as precisely as the Topps issuance and therefore the card borders are often found frayed. Condition sensitive due to the black coloured borders that are often found chipped, the set is far rarer than the Topps set from the same year and is anchored by many stars and future Hall of Famers. The backs of the 1971 OPC baseball cards are yellow, with the player info in both French and English, up until card #523. We offer the low series set which includes cards #1 to #523. With an overall average to the set of GD to VG including some a bit worse and many sporting corner wear, highlights include; 55-Carlton VG to VG/EX (light corner wear); 5-Munson (corner wear), 160-Seaver (slightly dirty on back, corner wear), 341-Garvey rookie (OC, light corner wear) and 513-Ryan (border scratches, mini crease top border) all GD to VG; 201-Carew GD to GD+ (large bent light crease); 26-Byleven rookie (small crease top right), 100-Rose (OC right border plus corner wear), 250-Bench (border damage top right and corner wear) and 400-Aaron (border damage and a crease that shows on back) all FR to GD; 450-Gibson FR (scratches on back, corner wear and crease top right); and 20-Jackson PR to FR (crease on back, faded and corner wear). Checklists 54 and 36 are marked, checklists 123, 206 and 499 are unmarked.
