Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2025
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/24/2025
The most popular hockey card producer in Canada, O-Pee-Chee first produced cards in the 1930s, with each and every early set especially coveted by collectors. We offer a group of 1936-37 O-Pee-Chee hockey cards totaling 18 including legendary superstars Howie Morenz and Eddie Shore. First, we should note that all 18 cards included in the lot appear to have been folded at one point, with this more evident on some cards compared to others when viewing the back of the cards along the factory die-cut horizontal line (which is on the front of the cards). The following approx grades stated is to give an idea of the condition of the cards excluding the fact that most cards appear to have been folded at one point. Highlights include; 102-L. Conacher (slight corner wear, perforation slightly loose over his head) and 105-Colville (very tiny crease above his head) both VG/EX to EX; and 118-Shore (faded, small wrinkle/crease shows on back, and small ding bottom right) and 121-Morenz (small corner crease shows only on back right) both VG to VG/EX. The remaining 14 cards include 3 approximately GD to VG (107-Karakas, 109-Shibicky and 115-Robinson), 5 approximately GD (99-Shill, 100-Davidson, 111-McKenzie, 113-Weibe and 119-Boll) and 6 approximately A (authentic) which includes 97-Broda, 110-Cain, 114-Desilets, 117-Goodfellow and 122-Horner, with those five cards missing their upper portions, and 127-Blinco which has the top portion of the card detached and taped on its back one one side.
