Neal Broten’s 1989-90 Minnesota North Stars game-worn jersey has a few tales to tell. Tagging was cut from the collar and this customized gamer measures out to roughly a size 46 when measured at the underarms and roughly a size 50 around the hips/hem. The “N. Broten” nameplate would have been worn during the 1989-90 season when his brother Aaron was acquired from the New Jersey Devils on January 5, 1990. The stitching on the quick-fix nameplate is inconsistent all the way around, which is a common occurrence on North Stars nameplates of that era because in 1988-89 and 1989-90 they were not on good terms with Steichen's because of their half-a-season contract with Team Choice in 1988-89. That meant equipment manager Mark Baribeau had to do his own in-house sewing, which he hated to do. The jersey displays solid game wear that includes black marks through the double-twill team crest on the front and more black marks on the front tail and both sleeves, which also exhibit board burns. The fight strap displays salting/rusting and CCM and NHL logos are embroidered on the right rear hem.
