Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2025

Beginning officially in 1977, the IIHF World Junior Championships were dominated by Team Canada beginning in 1988, with the red and white winning every gold medal until 1997 except for 1989 and 1992. The 1994 tournament witnessed Canada go undefeated - the only team to do so - with three players finishing in the top four for scoring. This would be our nation's second of five consecutive gold medals. We present a 1994 IIHF World Junior Championships gold medal. Measuring 2 3/4" in diameter with the original blue and yellow ribbon attached and "1994" to the bail, "World Championships" appears in raised letters circling the perimeter on the obverse along with two generic players and "Junior" beneath in raised letters. Featuring a painted globe IIHF logo with crossed hockey sticks on the reverse, it is encompassed by "International Ice Hockey Federation" in matching style raised letters. The medal displays beautifully and remains in near mint condition.
