A product of the Ontario Hockey Association's Toronto Marlboros who helped the club to a Memorial Cup Championship in 1975, Mike McEwen would be selected by the New York Rangers 42nd overall at the the 1976 NHL Amateur Draft. Also drafted 71st overall by the Toronto Toros of the WHA that same year, McEwen would choose to go the route of the National Hockey League and go on to play a total of 716 games in the league over the course of twelve (12) years in the league. Suiting up for the likes of New York (Rangers), Colorado, New York (Islanders), Los Angeles, Washington, Detroit and Hartford during his time in the league and helping the Islanders to three (3) straight Stanley Cup championships, offered here is this jersey worn by McEwen during the 1982-83 season, specifically during the 1983 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Made by Sandow SK, a brand label which displays a faded size "48" designation in red pen ink is affixed to the inner collar while McEwen's number "2" is penned over the label as well in black marker ink. A mesh construction garment sporting a screened on CCM logo over the reverse hem, the front of the jersey is decorated with a familiar Islanders team crest in layered tackle twill while the sleeves and verso have been accented with McEwen's number "2" in dual layer blue-over-orange tackle twill numerals. Having had McEwen spelt out in matching style letters across the affixed matching mesh nameplate that is in place over the top of the reverse, the jersey retains a customized loop style fight strap on the interior that was sewn in by the team atop of the original one. Displaying just light game-wear throughout, stick marks are found over the front and both sleeves while coloured board burns exist over the right shoulder and sleeve as well. Also sporting some staining throughout the front and pilling around the collar, additional pilling is seen on the interior around both elbows.
