Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2025
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/24/2025
The 38th edition of the National Hockey League's mid-season All-Star Game, hosted in 1986 in Hartford, Connecticut by the Whalers, Bryan Trottier and New York Islanders teammate Mike Bossy would team up as they had done numerous times in the past to score the winning goal at 3:05 of the overtime period, giving the Wales Conference their third (3rd) straight win. Originally hailing from his personal collection and sold by Beckett as part of their auction at the 1999 National Sports Collectors Convention in Atlanta, Georgia, offered here is this Wales Conference jersey worn by Trottier during the 1986 NHL All-Star Game that has been video-matched! Made by CCM and sporting a Gerry Cosby label affixed to the inner collar, a size "50" designation has been penned to it in blue ballpoint pen ink while a CCM logo is embroidered into the reverse hem. Decorated over the front of the jersey with "Wales" going diagonally down the chest from right-to-left in dual layer black-over-orange drop shadow tackle twill letters, single layer black twill stars also appear over the lower front, reverse and both sleeves while Wales Conference and NHL shield patches appear over the left and right shoulders respectively. Void of a fight strap on the interior, the sleeve and verso have been styled with Trottier's number "61" in dual layer drop-shadow tackle twill numerals while "Trottier" has been spelt out in matching style letters that have been sewn directly to the jersey at the top of the reverse. Also sporting the distinguished alternate captain's "A" over the left breast, the jersey shows game-wear via stick marks over the front and both sleeves as well as spot staining throughout. Regarding the video-matches, screenshots from the game show matches to the stick marks under the "S" in "Wales" over the front and to the stick marks in the area of the left armpit/shoulder. A COA from Beckett signed by Trottier will accompany the piece.
