A product of the Estevan Bruins who would be drafted first (1st) overall by the Boston Bruins at the 1966 NHL Amateur Draft, Barry Gibbs would go on to play a total of 797 games in the National Hockey League with the likes of Boston, Minnesota, Atlanta, St. Louis and Los Angeles. Named to the NHL All-Star Game in 1973, offered here is this Minnesota North Stars jersey worn by Gibbs during the 1974-75 campaign before being traded to Atlanta mid-season. A heavyweight durene knit construction offering made by Rawlings, a brand label displaying a size "48" designation is affixed to the inner collar. Decorated over the front of the jersey with a North Stars team crest that has been administered in layered tackle twill, the alternate captain's "A" that has was worn by Gibbs during the season before he was traded was removed the North Stars after the exchange of players was completed leaving behind no real outline of its former existence on the jersey but if you look closely, there are some yellow coloured threads still stuck into the fabric in the spot where the "A" would have been, serving as a good indication of its former placement. Accented over the sleeves and verso with Gibbs' number "2" in dual layer green-over-yellow tackle twill numerals, no nameplate appears over the upper reverse with no evidence that one was ever sewn on either. Retaining a loop style fight strap on the interior, the jersey shows wear via some light stick marks and sweat staining on the right sleeve, a couple of light stick marks and sweat staining on the left sleeve, sweat staining around the collar and above the number on the reverse, a stain at the edge of the hem on the reverse which is mostly seen on the interior and finally, some light but noticeable pilling on the interior. An LOA from Rich Ellis of Spirit of the Game will accompany the piece.
