Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2025

Before Krys Barch carved out a role in the NHL as a hard-nosed enforcer and played over 300
games at hockey’s highest level, he was just another hungry prospect in the American Hockey
League—fighting, quite literally, for a future in the sport he loved. This jersey is a relic from
those early days, worn during Barch’s gritty campaign with the Portland Pirates in 2002–03, a
season that showcased both his raw edge.
This SP brand jersey is a size "56" and features classic early-2000s AHL aesthetics. A pair of
Portland Pirates patches are stitched proudly on both shoulders, with a “VIP” sponsorship patch
on the left breast. On the lower left side of the jersey, a Portland crest adds a unique team
detail. The number "10" is featured on the sleeves and back in patterned black over white and red
tackle twill. Across the back, “BARCH” is stitched in single-layer patterned black twill over a
white nameplate. Above the name rests an AHL crest on the reverse neckline, and both AHL
and SP branding appear on the back hem.
A large stick mark slashes across the front band of the jersey, while the left cuff bears brown
staining. The right sleeve shows additional stick marks near the cuff, and more staining is visible
beside the number “1” on the back and again closer to the bottom hem. Inside the jersey, a fight
strap remains firmly affixed, and a team patch from Cutting Edge Sports is sewn
into the inner hem, identifying this jersey as a "Set #1".
