Steve Mason became a household name for Canadian hockey fans in 2008, when he
backstopped Team Canada to a gold medal at the World Junior Championship with a dominant,
MVP-winning performance. That breakout year launched a successful NHL career, with Mason
ultimately suiting up in over 350 games, most prominently for the Columbus Blue Jackets and
Philadelphia Flyers. This jersey comes from his final season in Philadelphia.
The Reebok-made jersey is a size 58 and was worn by Mason during the 2016-17 NHL season.
The collar features the appropriate Reebok tagging, including size. A team-issued LOA confirms
this jersey as Set 2, and authenticity patches from both the MeiGray Group and Philly Express
are stitched to the interior hem, verifying its use during the 2016-17 campaign. The Flyers’
classic crest sits prominently on the chest, layered over a rich gold fabric to commemorate the
team’s 50th anniversary. That anniversary is further honored with a 50 Years patch stitched to
the right shoulder. On the opposite shoulder, an Ed Snider Memorial patch pays tribute to the
late Flyers owner. Just below the number on the right sleeve, an NHL Centennial patch
celebrates the league’s 100th year — a rare combination of era-specific details that make this
jersey a collector’s gem.
Mason’s number 35 is stitched on both sleeves and the back of the jersey in gold over black
tackle twill. His name appears on the verso in white over gold twill on a black nameplate. A fight
strap is securely affixed inside the jersey. Game wear is evident, including visible puck marks on
the front and stick and puck marks along the left sleeve.
