A skilled goal scorer with 1,100+ NHL contests under his belt, Bernie Nicholls registered over 1,200 points throughout his career and is one of only eight players in history to score 70 goals in a single season. Selected by the Los Angeles Kings 73rd overall at the 1980 NHL Entry Draft, offered here is this Kings jersey donned by Nicholls during the 1987-88 campaign. An Ultrafil knit offering made by CCM (Los Angeles switched to air-knit halfway through the year), a washed out Ultrafil label is affixed to the inner collar while a CCM logo has been embroidered into the reverse hem. Measuring out to roughly a size "50", the front of the jersey is decorated with a layered Kings team crest that features beautifully embroidered details throughout. Styled over the sleeves and verso with Nicholls' number "9" in dual layer tackle twill numerals, "Nicholls" is spelt out in single layer yellow twill letters across the affixed matching nameplate at the top of the back. Exhibiting good game-wear, washed out stick marks are seen over the lower front, reverse and both sleeves while light board burns are observed over both sleeves as well. Sporting additional battle scars via a pair of team repairs on each sleeve, with the ones on the left sleeve of a larger scale and fabric backed, the sleeves also show small unrepaired cuts over each as well. With pilling found on the interior at each elbow and salting in the snaps of the fight strap, the jersey has been photo-matched with an included 8" x 10" image of Nicholls that was taken during a January 27th, 1988 game against the Toronto Maple Leafs at Maple Leaf Gardens that has been matched to now washed out stick marks above and below the number of the right sleeve and to a still dark stick mark on the back of the right arm in the forearm area. Additionally, Getty Image #1127445449 (January 27th, 1988 vs Toronto) taken during the same game is matched to the same previously mentioned now washed out stick mark that is found underneath the number of the right sleeve.
