Playing his college hockey in the NCAA with the Ohio State University Buckeyes and helping the school to the inaugural CCHA Tournament Championship in 1972, Bill McKenzie would go on to play in the National Hockey League with the likes of Detroit Red Wings, Kansas City Scouts and Colorado Rockies for a total of ninety-one (91) games in the league. Also suiting up in various minor leagues throughout North America between 1972 to 1980, being named the IHL's rookie of the year in 1973 and helping the Kansas City Blues to a CHL Adams Cup championship in 1977, offered here is this Colorado Rockies jersey worn by McKenzie during his time with the club circa 1977. A Champion made offering of a mesh construction that dates to either the 1976-77 campaign, the club's first season after relocating from Kansas City, or the next season of 1977-78 based on the crossed collar style, it is believed that this set of jerseys first was worn during the later portion of 1976-77 and then recycled into the team's second season of 1977-78 at some point, possibly during the pre-season but also possibly the regular season as well as the Rockies are known to have done some interesting recycling during their time in the league. Additionally, McKenzie would wear the number "1" during all five (5) games he would play in during 1976-77 as well as in games on Jan 1st, Jan 5th, Jan 10th and Jan 21st during the 1977-78 season (he would play twelve games in all in during the 1977-78, wearing number "29" in all the games not listed earlier). Featuring a lone Champion label affixed to the inner collar that displays a size "48" designation at the bottom of it, the front of the garment is decorated with a screened on/rubberized Rockies team crest while matching alternate logo patches appear over both shoulders, having been administered in the same style. Accented with McKenzie's number "1" over the sleeves and verso in screened on/rubberized dual layer white-over-red numerals, "McKenzie" is spelt out in single layer screened on/rubberized white letters across the affixed matching nameplate at the top of the reverse. Retaining its original small loop style fight strap on the interior, the jersey shows just light wear overall including a few marks thorough the body and sleeves, including a puck mark in the bottom yellow stripe of the right sleeve, and some minor fraying from rubbing against McKenzie's equipment.
