This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/28/2023
The first hockey player to have his number retired league wide upon his retirement after 20 seasons in 1999, Wayne Gretzky is one of only three athletes to be bestowed the honour, joining Jackie Robinson and Bill Russell. Offered here, and sure to be of interest to all “The Great One” enthusiasts, is this collection of four (4) game-worn jerseys cards featuring imagery and memorabilia of the NHL’s all-time point leader. Lead off with a 2014-15 Upper Deck Masterpieces jersey card showing Wayne during his days with the New York Rangers, a piece of white jersey swatch is found embedded near the bottom on the front side. A second offering, this time from UD’s 2014-15 SP Game-Used release, shows the Canadian hockey phenom in his red Canada Cup jersey in 1991 and includes a red piece of jersey inserted in the over the patriotic image. The last two cards, hailing from 2014-15 UD Black, see Wayne over the front as a member of the Kings with both featuring two white jersey swatches flanking his acetate image. Condition wise, the cards remain in excellent condition with only light wear observed to the corners and edges of the included offerings.
