Featured in the world's oldest championship lacrosse match in 1870, the city of Montreal was heavily involved in the sport during the late-19th and early-20th century, with some of the greatest lacrosse players in history emerging from the Quebec metropolis. This framed cabinet photo of the 1905-06 Shamrock Lacrosse Club of Montreal features Stanley Cup champion and HOFer Harry Trihey. A branch of the Montreal Shamrocks hockey team which Trihey competed with from 1897 to 1901, he served as honourary president of the lacrosse team during the era of this photo. At approx 18" x 21 1/2", the photo features composite bust-length images of the full team including Trihey, with wonderful text and graphics by photographer PJ Gordon. In beautiful condition, with no issues to note other than a small area of light discolouration, the photo is matted and appears in the original frame to full dimensions of 25" x29".
