Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Winter 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/28/2023
Perfect for display and a wonderful representation of mid-century board games featuring sports, we have a collection of 3, with baseball as the main subject matter. Highlighted by a rare “Roger Maris Baseball Game” from 1962, produced just after Maris broke Ruth’s home run record, the box (13 ½” x 18 ¾” x 1 ½”) shows Maris on the front taking a mighty swing, and appears to be mostly complete, with the game board, spinners and game cards present while appearing to be missing some cardboard players. The box and board both exhibit moderate wear and display beautifully, with a tears/splits to the box top being observed. Next, we have a “Bambino Baseball Game” from 1946, appearing complete based on research except for the instructions sheet, the game measures 10 ¼” x 15 ¼” x 1 ½” and remains in excellent condition with just light wear exhibited to the box surface and corners and the pieces it comes with. Lastly, we have a rare “Challenge the Yankees Baseball Game”. Measuring 12 ¾” x 19 ¼” x 1 ½”, the box shows the beautiful “House the Ruth Built” and images of the Bronx Bombers players in action at the left side. Missing the player cards but appearing to have everything else, the piece remains in good condition while the box shows rips, tears, splits and creasing to both the top and bottom.
Please note, it cannot be guaranteed that the games included in the lot are complete and as such are being sold "AS IS" and are ineligible for return.
