Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Winter 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/28/2023
The Topps company’s glorious start to its hockey card career is represented here, with the popping colors of its inaugural issue always a treat to behold and this ensemble dominated by crease-free EX-or-better entries. Several/most of the key cards however are condition exceptions, with subtle warping, a small stain/discoloration in the upper right corner and corner wear sending the Gordie Howe card to VG or, at best, VG+, while two bottom corner dings render 58-Terry Sawchuk just shy of EX at VG-EX+. Other sub-EX notables are 3-Howell (VG), 5-Kelly (VG+), 10-Worsley (VG) and 60-Schmidt (VG), with a stain affecting 1-Gamble (otherwise EX) and a bit of a foreign substance on the back of 18-Mohns RC (o/w EX). With all that said, there are plenty of appealing EX+ (39-Delvecchio, 41-Stanley) and EX-MT (mostly) commons to discover, with intermittent lightly toned backs to note. Bonuses are two PSA-encapsulated duplicates; 12-Hollingworth RC (EX+ 5.5) and 46-Goldham (EX-MT 6). Classic collectibles await your vintage card stash.
