Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction December 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/13/2022
Selected by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the first round of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, Kasperi Kapanen has split his 321 NHL games played between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Pittsburgh Penguins, with appearances made for Finland at the World Juniors and World Championships. Worn by Kapanen during the 2017-18 season is this Toronto Maple Leafs jersey. Made by Adidas, a size “56” designation is found over the collar band with logos of the NHL and Adidas found on the front and reverse necklines respectively. Featuring a vintage style Leafs team crest with “Toronto Maple Leafs” embroidered over the front below a faux tie-up neck, Kapi’s “24” is sewn to the sleeves and verso in oversized white twill, with “Kapanen” across the affixed nameplate in matching material. Exhibiting good game-wear, numerous board burns are seen on each sleeve, with a good cluster on the left shoulder, with two also seen on the lower reverse. One of the burns on the left shoulder is deep enough to be an unrepaired hole. Additionally, the jersey has been photo-matched with Getty Image #943902992 (April 7, 2018 vs Montreal) to the board burns seen on the left shoulder. A team patch resides over the interior hem and is accompanied by a Leafs COA. An 8” x 10” copy of the picture the jersey is photo-matched to will also be included.
