A treat for all young hockey players to look forward to on their summer holidays in the 1970s, was attending hockey school, with the best ones taught by NHL superstars such as the one run by Bobby Orr and Mike Walton which is where this collection of items comes from. Leading off is a jersey worn on-ice at the camp. A yellow and royal blue ensemble with the front having been styled with “Orr Walton Sports Camp Orillia Canada” and the camp logo, the jersey shows good wear with staining throughout and a hole in the right sleeve and below the neckline, the original owner’s name is still found in the neck. Youth sized; the jersey measures out to approx. a size 36. Next up, is four beanies from the camp. 3 of the 4 have the camp patch affixed to them with 2 remaining in excellent condition with just light toning and staining. One showing heavier wear while still having the camp patch has been signed by nine including Bobby Orr, Don Awrey, Dale Talon, Kevin O’Shea and Bill Barber. The last beanie, has no patch on the front with the heaviest wear seen, is signed by Orr where the patch would have been affixed. A group of camp clothing is also found including a t-shirt (youth medium), windbreaker jacket (approx. size 42) and a pair of camp sweatshirts (one boys large, one men’s medium). All the items remain in good condition for their age with no wear present to the graphics of the sweatshirts and the t-shirt or the camp patch on the windbreaker. The windbreaker shows stains to the reverse as does the t-shirt. Two wooden mini-sticks and a 1972 “winners” puck are also included. The sticks are stamped with the camp logo on each blade and both remain in good condition while showing liquid staining to the wood. Additionally, one of the sticks has been signed by Orr with a blue marker signature that has faded on the bottom half due to the liquid damage. The other stick also signed, including by Kevin O’Shea. The puck has chips to the edges on both sides along with surface wear and fading to the printed graphics. Last but not least, is a group of paper paraphernalia for the camp including a camp magazine (small tear to the bottom with paper loss to the front cover as well as creasing and liquid stain to the bottom right corner, a brochure (remaining in excellent condition), airline transportation brochure and application (folded down the middle, handling wear and a stain to the back cover present), three maps of Parry Sound and Georgian Bay Region with an original mailing envelope and finally a Christmas card with printed signatures from Orr and both Mike and Bill Walton.
