Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Fall 2022

Earning a tryout with the Canadiens for the 1942-43 season, Maurice Richard would make the club and forever transform Les Canadiens de Montreal, leading the club to eight Stanley Cup Championships during his 18-year National Hockey League career. From the beginning of that remarkable career, we have Maurice Richard’s 1942 Application for Non-Immigrant Visa. Dated December 18th, 1942, the document was needed to enable Richard to travel abroad with the Canadiens for games as he unfortunately didn’t have a valid Canadian passport. The document states that Maurice was allowed to travel with the Montreal Canadiens to play hockey in Detroit. Featuring a 2.5” x 2” photo of the young hockey star, the document has been signed three times in vintage fountain pen; once across the picture, once in the lower right-hand corner and his initial on the back of the document. Measuring 8 ½” x 10”, the two-sided document has two creases from being folded and was torn in two but was fortunately taped back together over 60 years ago. Overall, in excellent condition. Comes accompanied with a Letter of authenticity signed by the family.
