Earning their first entry to the FIFA World Cup in 1986, the Canadian National Team would go winless in three contests but had officially arrived on international soccer’s biggest stage. Presented here is a full ticket from Canada’s debut match at the 1986 FIFA World Cup in Mexico against France. The underdog Canadians gave France a great defensive performance before conceding a late goal and falling 1-0. A thin paper ticket with all its text in Spanish the front displays match information with the reverse having a diagram of Estadio Leon. Showing multiple creases and light edge wear, the stub remains fully affixed to the right side of the ticket. A remarkable piece of Canadian soccer history that comes to light as Canada once again gets ready for a World Cup appearance.
