Selected first overall at the 1966 NHL Amateur Draft by the Boston Bruins, defenseman Barry Gibbs played just eight games in Beantown before being traded to Minnesota. The Lloydminster native spent six seasons in Bloomington, with additional seasons with Atlanta, St Louis and Los Angeles. From his final season in Minnesota where he saw action in 37 games before heading to Atlanta, we have a North Stars jersey worn by Gibbs in 1974-75. The proper Steichens label is affixed to the collar, with the jersey measuring-out to a size 50. Styled with the classic pointed-N stars team crest in tackle twill, “2” is sewn to the sleeves and verso in matching material, with the former outline of “Gibbs” visible over the upper reverse. There is also evidence of a removed alternate’s “A” from the left breast (Gibbs’ served as alternate in 1974-75 before his trade to Atlanta), with the original loop-style fight strap intact. Game wear includes scrapes to the material over the front and sleeves, with a bit of spotting and blue paint transfer to the reverse right shoulder and red paint transfer to the reverse band. There are also a few separations to the tackle twill on the reverse number, with team repairs visible including to the front (3) and left sleeve (2).
