Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Fall 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/20/2022
An important component in the historic chain of legendary Beantown defenders that includes Eddie Shore and Bobby Orr, Ray Bourque would play 21 seasons in Massachusetts before winning a Stanley Cup in his final campaign with Colorado. From his time in Beantown, we have signed skates worn by Bourque during the 1996-97 season, along with a signed helmet worn in the 1980s. First, the skates are Mega models with Tuuk Plus blade holders, with Bauer logos placed over the original Mega logos. “Sept 96” is handwritten to each underside boot along with “77” (Getty Image #317328 from Sept of 1996 shows the correct models, with Bauer logos placed over the Mega logos). The pair show light use with cuts to the toe sections and puck marks to each blade holder, with Bourque signing each in silver. The helmet is a CCM model with “7” decal on the lower reverse (Bourque wore #7 from 1980 to 1988), with some of the interior padding detached but present, with a number of scratches, marks and red paint transfer. Bourque has signed the forehead section in black marker. COAs will accompany for the signatures.
