Fresh from winning the Indianapolis 500 and the CART IndyCar World Series title the previous year, Jacques Villeneuve made an impressive Formula One debut in 1996. The son of the late, great Gilles Villeneuve finished second overall in the drivers' championship as an F1 rookie. Offered here are a number of items commemorating Jacques Villeneuve's successful debut season, including a Goodyear Eagle tire and Williams F1 wheel, a circa 1996 end plate, a 1996 Williams F1 racing car disc brake - redone as a clock, Villeneuve's F1 Williams four-point harness, and a Momo steering wheel, all originally obtained from Collector's Studio in Toronto. Villeneuve race-used Goodyear Eagle tire from 1996 rookie season is 14” wide and 25” in diameter, with a diagonal slash cut above the “G” on the front. Mounted on a Williams O.Z racing wheel (Collector’s Studio in Toronto); Circa 1996 race-battered end plate with “Sonax” in red letters is cracked and has blue marks over its 8” x 21 1/2" surface (Collector’s Studio in Toronto); Lightweight 1996 Williams F1 carbon brake disc measures 11” in diameter and has been fitted with a clock (Grand Prix TopGear); Villeneuve’s four-point F1 Willans racing harness has an SFI label that has been punched for December 1998 (Grand Prix TopGear); Villeneuve steering wheel measures 11” in diameters and has electronics harness with five multi-colored buttons. The items all show expected wear commensurate with their former use. Take notice that Villeneuve's signature on the red Winfield glove has been traced over.
Addendum; Please take notice that Villeneuve wasn't using this type of Momo steering wheel during the 1996 season and it is unknown when it would have been used by him.
