Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Fall 2022

Known later for his jovial/smiling nature, veteran minor league goalie Johnny Bower had Rangers fans smiling at times during his first NHL season when, like the back of his 1954-55 rookie card informs, he posted the lowest GAA by a Ranger goalie in some 15 years, his performances making him a contender for not only the Calder but also the Hart Trophy as league MVP. This Bower rookie received an apparent generous 5 EX assessment when examined years ago by KSA, given the wear observed at the corners, three of them with a small crease visible. Bower, erroneously identified as "Bowers" on the back of his '54-55 Parkie, would go on to help the Maple Leafs to four Stanley Cup titles and play into his mid-Forties, later bringing smiles for decades to autograph seekers – what a great guy! No unsightly scratches/flaws to the KSA holder are to report. Please note that the grading standards followed by KSA may not correspond to those of PSA, BGS or SGC. The outcome of an attempted cross-over of this card through any of those services therefore would be uncertain and cannot be guaranteed.
