Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Fall 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/20/2022
A prize in it’s own right for collectors, with this example augmented with the signatures of the Stanley Cup champion Montreal Canadiens, we offer a game-issued Jean Beliveau stick team-signed by the 1968-69 Canadiens, accompanied by a second team-signed stick attributed to the 1964-65 Stanley Cup champion Habs. First, the Beliveau stick is a CCM Custom Pro, Pattern Made model with “Beliveau” and “4” stamped to the upper shaft, with a stamp from team supplier McNiece’s along the top edge of the shaft. In gorgeous like-new condition with most of the striping accent intact (held tight with clear tape), 21 have signed the frontside blade and shaft in ballpoint, including Beliveau, along with fellow HOFers Worsley, Cournoyer, Vachon, Richard, Lemaire, Duff and Serge Savard, as well as Backstrom, Harper, Hillman (only with Habs in 1968-69), Redmond, Harris, Ferguson, JC Tremblay, Provost, Laperriere, Rousseau and a few others. The stick has also been varnished, with a few small holes drilled, most likely from a former display. The second stick is a youth-sized CCM Custom Pro, Pattern Made John Ferguson model that has also been varnished, with 20 signing including HOFers Beliveau, Cournoyer, Richard, Laperriere and Blake (coach), along with Roberts, Harper, Ferguson, Talbot, Hodge, Harris, Larose, Backstrom, Balon and a few others. Attributed to 1964-65, the possibility exists of the stick originating from 1963-64, with a few signatures that are hard to decipher.
