Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Fall 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/20/2022
Collectors of tobacco and pre-war cards may be enticed by the chance here to secure four cards with one swoop, with three men well known to hockey historians leading the lineup. Rookie cards of Montreal Canadiens "assembler" Jack Laviolette and of then-future Canadien Odie Cleghorn are in KSA holders labeled "2 G" and "1 FP" respectively, while encapsulated and graded GOOD 2 by PSA is Cy Denneny's card from the 1924-25 William Paterson V145-2 issue. The longtime scoring star with Ottawa had won the NHL scoring title the previous season and is joined here (from the same set) by first-year Boston Bruin forward Alf Skinner, the latter's rookie card assessed 4 VGE by KSA. The KSA holders are without unsightly scratches, while the Denneny/PSA holder exhibits multiple scratches. All in all, a nifty foursome to consider.
