Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Fall 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/20/2022
Earning the sobriquets of “Mighty Atom” and “Little Giant” for the combination of his small stature and no-holes-barred play, Aurele Joliat first donned the sacred flannel of the Montreal Canadiens in 1922-23, and spent his entire HOF career with the Habs. A three-time All-Star and Stanley Cup champion, Joliat also hoisted the Hart Memorial, in 1934. We offer a rare photo signed by the legendary star, encapsulated as “Authentic Auto” by PSA/DNA. At approx 4” x 6”, the period image depicts a bust-length portrait of Joliat in his Habs wool, with the Ottawa native signing over the right side, adding a lengthy personalization. The signature displays well, with the photo showing just some glue/paper residue on the reverse from scrapbook removal. The PSA case also shows light wear. Born just after the turn of the century, Joliat passed away in 1986 at age 84.
