Named captain of the Canadiens in 1975 following the retirement of Henri Richard, Yvan Cournoyer was also awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy in 1973 for his performance as the most valuable player during the playoffs. We have a signed stick used by the HOFer in 1974-75. Fittingly, a Canadien model with graphics in Habs colours, “12 Cournoyer” appears stamped, with a date code of "160475" nearby (April 16, 1975). Featuring a shaved handle along with an odd-shaped curved blade, the stick retains its black tape on the handle and blade, with nice use exhibited including wear to the taped section of blade along with a few marks to the lower shaft. Yvan has signed across the front side of the shaft in ballpoint, and the signature displays well.
