Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Fall 2022

Extremely tenacious despite his somewhat smaller stature, earning the nickname “Killer”, Doug Gilmour was drafted by St Louis in 1982 and skated for seven different NHL clubs throughout his HOF career. A Stanley Cup champion with Calgary in 1989, Gilmour also earned the Frank J Selke Trophy in 1993. From his first of two seasons in Montreal near the close of his career, we have photo-matched gloves worn by Gilmour in 2001-02. Hespeler models in Habs colours with “Killer” embroidered to each wrist guard, the gloves show light to moderate wear with the palm in each intact with no issues. The long white portions near the thumbs have small areas where the material is also sticky. Gilmour added signatures to each that are mostly faded. Getty Image #1486099 (Oct 26, 2001) has been matched to the black mark within the first “E” of “HESPELER” on the right glove, while Getty Image #1486100 (Oct 26, 2001) has been matched to the line through the second “E” of “HESPELER” on the left glove.
