Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Fall 2022

Yes indeed, television’s then-future “The Rifleman” stars in and headlines this batch of scarce cards produced in Canada by World Wide Gum and featuring players who toiled in the Class AAA International League. A neat image of a smiling Chuck Connors in his Montreal Royals uniform is joined on card No. 2 by a bilingual write-up that reveals that the 1st baseman smacked 20 home runs and drove in 108 runs while batting at a .319 clip in 1949. Multiple creases send the example to Poor, with most of the others either P or F, exhibiting creasing and/or back damage. One card, 10-Pat McGlothin, makes it to G, with other Brooklyn Dodgers’ farmhands 1-Rocky Bridges, 7-Steve Lembo, 14-Turk Lown, 22-Gino Cimoli and 24-Al Gionfriddo among those contributing to the lot’s lineup, filled out by members of the Buffalo Bisons, Toronto Maple Leafs and Baltimore Orioles. Close to half of the (48-card) set is here for the taking.
