A managerial change occurred for the Montreal Expos for the 1984 MLB season with Bill Virdon replaced by Jim Fanning, but the highlight to the season was the acquisition of HOFer Pete Rose from the Phillies. Charlie Hustle would garner his 4,000th hit with the Expos during his lone season with the club. We have an Expos game jersey from the 1984 season. A Rawlings label and "Set 1 1984" tag is affixed to the inside front tail, along with a chain-stitched "Dilone 84" swatch. Styled with a tackle twill Expos team crest over the left breast, "68" is sewn to the verso in regal blue twill, with "Heredia" directly across the upper reverse in matching material. Originally produced for outfielder Miguel Dilone although on photos, programs or reference sites list the Dominican as wearing #18, the jersey shows signs of a former name and no evidence of a number change, with Dilone's name never appearing on it. Ubaldo Heredia played for the Expos only in 1987, in just 2 games pitching 10 innings, and he is listed as wearing #35 for the Expos (not 68). As such, it is unknown if either or both of the aforementioned players wore the jersey and therefore is being offered as a "Game Jersey". The jersey itself shows wear including some toning to the material in areas along with spotting around the collar.
